I just finished reading The Last Hill by Bob Drury and Tom Clavin. It came out at the end of 2022. This was a quick easy read that was primarily about the 2nd Ranger Battalion. It’s very similar in content to Robert Black’s The Battalion. The Last Hill is written in a more assessable story format as opposed to a factual account style and would be a good read for people that have a hard time reading “dry“ history books. He breathes a lot of life into the characters and does a good job balancing the human story with the factual information. Although sometimes Their subjective embellishment of the thoughts and feelings of the characters is so precise that it makes you wonder how much is truthful and how much is artistic license. Overall though it was an enjoyable read and I would recommend it!

The more I think about it the more it kinda bugs me that they refer to them as operators in the book. I feel like it’s to contemporary a term.
