About Us
The 5th Rangers "E" Coy Living History Organization is a group of reenactors portraying the 5th Ranger Battalion and home front efforts during the Second World War. We (The 5th Rangers "E" Coy Living History Organization) are a member of the Historical Reenacting Society (HRS). We strive to maintain the memory and history of the men who served in both the unit we portray and all who served. We are not a militia, military or political group nor do we condone or tolerate racist or extreme political views in our unit. Through research and interviews with veterans we strive to maintain a high level of authenticity and professionalism.

A Breif History of Our Group
It all started in the late 90s while attending a timline reenactment where reenactors from all eras come to one event to teach the public about their particular impression. Two French Marines portraying the seven years war were walking back to their camp when a 1940s willys jeep zoomed by them. Still burdened with a long trek back to their camp they soon realized that they were doing the wrong era. These men were Andrew Burgess and Kenny Ozanich. Soon after they were introduced to a British Grenadier Guards reenactor, Jim Higginbottom, who also shared an intrest in World War II. These three men started the 5th Ranger Battalion in 1998 with the 20th Century Tactical Studies Group. At that time no one else was portraying men of that unit and there was very little information available. This is what attracted them to the Rangers.
Since then we have switched over to the Historical Reenacting Society and grown in people and equipment. We are 15+ members strong with 3 war era jeeps, and a weapons carrier. We also have 2 sub units depicting other countries for our members to do a side impression. They are the 5th Parachute division, Fallschirmjager and the 5th Rifles, Russian infantry. During the year we attend many air shows, public historical events, timeline events and tacticals. We have also given talks and schools and youth organizations to teach kids about history and to give a hands on education and a small glimpse of what life was like back then.
Joining the Rangers
Any military mannerism, training or education is for the preservation of history and to maintain the integrity of how soldiers would have acted during that era. We are currently accepting new members. Contact us on the contact page or visit us on social media! You are welcome to come check us out at any public events we attend. We are located in southeast Michigan. Consult our facebook or isntagram pages to see events near you!
Members that fall in with us you must be at least 16 years old with parental or guardian permission. We also ask that you be at least 18 years old to carry a weapon. Any firearms you see with our group are all legally owned and maintained. We DO NOT tolerate any illegal possesion or unsafe acts with firearms. In regards to our weapons they are all privately owned and operated.
